Shahrouz Khalifian, a graduate student in History whose research focuses on the social history of universities in medieval France, has written an insightful article on the 12th-century English manuscript Osborn fa38, a spectacular copy of Petrus Comestor’s Historia scholastica. Hidden Gems is a series of short, online articles which highlight items in the Beinecke Library’s collection and which showcase current, hands-on research being undertaken by students, faculty and other scholars.
