Grants & Fellowships

The Yale Student Grants website brings together in a comprehensive, searchable resource those grants and fellowships funded and/or administered by Yale. Most of these are open only to Yale students and are available from Yale’s schools, departments, and programs, while others are national competitions to which Yale nominates candidates.

The Beinecke Rare Book and Manuscript Library regularly offers fellowships for Yale graduate students: this is often a particularly valuable opportunity for Medieval Studies students.

Ordinarily, the Yale Center for British Art offers summer travel grants for graduate students

Yale University Art Gallery also offers a number of opportunities for Yale graduate students to develop skills in scholarship, teaching, and curation of art.

A number of external fellowships are also open to Medieval Studies students.

The Medieval Academy of America offers many grants for doctoral students, sometimes geared toward particular regions or fields of study.
